विश्व-वारा - ऋग्वेद संहिता के पाँचवें मण्डल के दूसरे अनुवाक के 28वें सूत्र की रचयिता
विश्ववारा का जन्म अत्रि मुनि के वंश में हुआ था। प्राचीनकालीन ऋषियों ने विश्वरूप, विश्वप्राण, विश्वनियन्ता और विश्वदेव प्रभु के ध्यान में अपने-आपको भूला कर जो स्त्रोत्र रचे हैं, वे वैदिक मंत्र कहलाते है। इन वैदिक मंत्रों को सनातनी लोग साक्षात् विश्वदेवता की वाणी मानते है। इसीलिए इन वैदिक ऋपियों का नाम 'मंत्रदृष्टा' (अर्थात् जिन्होंने मंत्रों की रचना केवल अपनी शक्ति से नहीं किन्तु भगवत्कृपा से उन्हे सुनकर या देखकर की हो) रखा गया। जिन स्त्रियों ने इस प्रकार के मंत्र रचे उनमें विश्ववारा का नाम मुख्य है।
ऋग्वेद संहिता के पाँचवें मण्डल के दूसरे अनुवाक का 28वाँ सूत्र इनका ही रचा हुआ है। इस सूत्र की छः ऋचायें है, जो प्रत्येक एक-एक माणिक के समान है। जो स्त्री स्वयं पाप से निवृत्त होकर सब जगह स्त्रियों मे वैदिक धर्म का प्रचार करती फिरे और पापों को दूर करती रहे, उसे विश्व-वारा कहा जाता है। यह ब्रह्मवादिनी वैदिक अग्निहोत्र (हवन) आदि शुभ कर्मों का प्रचार करती थीं।इन्होंने स्वयं भी यज्ञ किया था। विश्ववारा ने जिस मंत्र का उपदेश किया, उसका भावार्थ इस प्रकार हैः-
(1) प्रज्वलित अग्नि, तेज का विस्तार करके, ठेठ आकाश तक अपनी ज्वाला फैलाती है। प्रात: काल और रात के समय आग खूब फैल कर बहुत सुन्दर दीखती है। देवार्चन में निमग्न वृद्ध और विदुषी स्त्री विश्ववारा नमस्कार द्वारा, अथवा तरह-तरह के अन्न से, विद्वानों का सत्कार और हविष्य द्वारा होम करती हुई जा रही है।
(2) अग्नि - आप समिध्यामान होने से जल की स्वामिनी है । कल्याण की इच्छा से हविष्यकर्त्ता यजमान आपकी सेवा करते है। जिस यजमान के पास आप जाती हैं वह पशु आदि समस्त धन पा जाता है। हे अग्नि' आपके उपयुक्त आतिथ्यसूचक हवि हम आपके समक्ष प्रस्तुत करते है। जो स्त्री अग्नि में हवन करती है, यानी वैदिक कर्म को विश्वास और श्रद्धा के साथ पूरा करती है, निश्चय ही वह सब प्रकार के ऐश्वर्य को प्राप्त करती है; क्योकि ऐसी स्त्री का अन्त:करण पवित्र और मन स्थिर होता है तथा इन्द्रियां अनुकूल और अधीन रहती हुई सदैव जन-समाज के कल्याण में ही प्रवृत्त रहती है।
(3) हे अग्नि ' अखण्ड सौभाग्य के लिए आप बलवती हों। आपका दिया हुआ धन उत्तम अर्थात् दूसरो का उपकार करनेवाला हो। हम स्त्रियो के दाम्पत्य-भाव को और दृढ़ कीजिए । हम स्त्रियों में दुश्मनी करने की इच्छा रखनेवाले कुकर्म, कुचेप्टा, लोभ आदि जो दोष है उन्हे दूर कीजिए।
यह प्रार्थना सुकर्म और दाम्पत्य सुख के लिए है। और यह निःसन्देह है कि सुकमों से ही सौभाग्य और सम्पत्ति प्राप्त होती है। फिर जो स्त्री अपने पति के साथ सदा धर्म-कर्म करती रहती है और सदाचार का पालन करती है उसके साथ उसके पति का मन-मुटाव भी नहीं होता। इसी प्रकार कुचेष्ठायें भी उसके पास नहीं फटकतीं ।

Vishvara, the seer of mantras
Vishvara was born in the lineage of Atri Muni. The hymns composed by ancient sages, forgetting themselves in meditation on the Universal Form, the Universal Life, the Universal Controller, and the Supreme Being, are called Vedic mantras. Sanatanis consider these Vedic mantras to be the direct words of the Universal God. Therefore, these Vedic sages were named "Mantradrishta" (meaning, those who composed mantras not solely through their own power but by hearing or seeing them through the grace of God). Vishvara is prominent among the women who composed such mantras.
She is the author of the 28th Sutra of the second Anuvaka of the fifth Mandala of the Rigveda Samhita. This Sutra has six verses, each of which is like a ruby. A woman who, having renounced sin, goes about preaching Vedic religion to women everywhere, eliminating sins, is called Vishvavara. This Brahmavadini propagated auspicious rituals like the Vedic Agnihotra (havan). She herself performed a yajna. The mantra preached by Vishvavara is as follows:
(1) A burning fire, expanding its radiance, spreads its flames to the very sky. In the morning and at night, the fire spreads widely and looks very beautiful. An elderly and learned woman, immersed in the worship of the gods, is offering Vishvavara namaskar, or offering various kinds of food, honoring scholars, and offering oblations.
(2) Agni - You are the mistress of water, being in the Samidhyāma. Hosts who offer oblations serve you with the desire for well-being. The host to whom you visit gains all wealth, including cattle. O Agni, we present to you an offering befitting your hospitality. A woman who performs the havan (fire sacrifice) in the fire, that is, performs Vedic rituals with faith and devotion, will undoubtedly attain all kinds of prosperity; for such a woman's conscience is pure, her mind is steady, and her senses are harmonious and subservient, always focused on the welfare of society.
(3) O Agni, may you be strong for eternal good fortune. May the wealth you bestow be of the highest good, that is, beneficial to others. Strengthen the marital spirit of us women. Remove the vices of evil deeds, mischief, greed, etc., that tend to create enmity among us women.
This prayer is for good deeds and marital happiness. And it is beyond doubt that good deeds lead to good fortune and wealth. A woman who always performs religious duties and upholds righteous conduct with her husband will not have any conflicts with him. Similarly, evil intentions will not come near her.
