महर्षि च्यवन की तपस्थली
संतों और साक्ष्यों के अनुसार देवकुंड में ऋषि च्यवन का आश्रम था। उनका जन्म आज के अरवल जिला के मधुश्रवां में हुआ था जब उनके पिता भृगु ऋषि सपत्निक विष्णु पद धाम की यात्रा पर थे। भृगु ऋषि अपने ज्ञान और तपस्या के लिए जाने जाते थे। ऋषि च्यवन ने जड़ी-बूटियों से च्यवनप्राश का आविष्कार किया, जिससे उन्हें वृद्धावस्था से पुनः युवावस्था प्राप्त हुई। उनका विवाह राजा शर्याति की पुत्री सुकन्या से हुआ था और वे अश्विनी कुमारों के साथ इंद्र के वज्र का विरोध करने में सक्षम थे। ऋग्वेद में उनका उल्लेख एक वृद्ध व्यक्ति के रूप में किया गया है, जिनकी जवानी अश्विनी कुमारों ने बहाल की थी। उन्होंने 'च्यवनस्मृति' और 'भास्करसंहिता' जैसे ग्रंथ भी लिखे हैं।
ऋषि च्यवन के विवाह से सम्बंधित कथा है कि एक बार उन्होंने बहुत लंबे समय तक कठोर तपस्या की, और आखिरकार एक दीमकों के टीले से वे ढंक गए । राजकुमारी सुकन्या उधर से गुजर रही थीं और उन्हें चमकता हुआ ऋषि का आँख दिखा। चुकीं ऋषि का पूरा शरीर ढंका था अत: वो समझ नहीं पाई कि यह ऋषि की ऑंखें हैं। और उसने सच्चाई जानने की जिज्ञासा में उनकी ऑंखें धायल कर दीं। तत्पश्चात प्रायश्चित सवरूप उनका विवाह ऋषि से हुआ। अब राजकुमारी सुकन्या जवान थी और ऋषि वृद्ध। फलस्वरूप ऋषि ने अपनी जवानी और आँखों की रोशनी वापस लाने के लिए कायाकल्प करने वाला च्यवनप्राश बनाया था ।

According to saints and evidence, Sage Chyavan's ashram was located in Devkund. He was born in Madhusravan in present-day Arwal district when his father, Sage Bhrigu, and his wife were on a pilgrimage to Vishnupad Dham. Sage Bhrigu was known for his wisdom and penance. Sage Chyavan invented Chyavanprash from herbs, which restored his youth from old age. He was married to Sukanya, the daughter of King Sharyati, and along with the Ashvins, he was able to resist Indra's thunderbolt. He is mentioned in the Rigveda as an old man whose youth was restored by the Ashvins. He also wrote texts such as the Chyavan Smriti and Bhaskar Samhita.
The story surrounding Sage Chyavan's marriage is that once, after a long and rigorous period of penance, he was finally covered by an anthill. Princess Sukanya was passing by and saw the sage's glowing eyes. Since the sage's entire body was covered, she couldn't discern the true meaning. In her curiosity to learn the truth, she injured his eyes. As a penance, she married the sage. Now, Princess Sukanya was young, and the sage was old. Consequently, the sage created the rejuvenating Chyavanprash to restore his youth and eyesight.
